Allium! are a four-piece alternative rock band from Bristol UK, founded by vocalist Maya MacCallum and guitarist Tom Sheppard. They blend the raw energy of 90s and early 2000s alt rock with a modern twist. Their sound combines melodic vocals, gritty guitars, and driving basslines, influenced by alt rock, indie, grunge, and punk — all coming together to create something unmistakably theirs.

Formed in early 2022, they released their dusky debut single "In the Dark" in July that year to great reception, even being featured on BBC Radio Bristol as part of their 'Upload' program. Quick to join the gigging circuit, they spent most of 2022 playing in and around the South West including Bristol's Harbour Festival. Later that year they released their second single, "Witches", a rebellious freedom-calling anthem which has become a fan-favourite staple within their live set.

 

2023 set them up to release their fully independent first album - 'In the Dark' - featuring both singles released last year. This formed a 10-track concept album which navigates through unhealthy relationships, feelings of grief and ultimately; self acceptance. They also made their second festival appearance as part of Bristol's 'Dot to Dot' Festival.

 

2024 marked a new era for the band. With a refreshed line-up welcoming Henry Harris on bass and Noah Houghton on drums, they made their third festival appearance at Barnstaple's 'Connect & Create' Festival.

This year has seen a breakthrough with the release of 'See No Evil' on February 2nd, pushing their sound forward and earning more airtime through BBC Upload. Their latest single, 'Onomatopoeia', releases June 20th and marks a bold new chapter which showcases the band's evolving sound and growing presence in the alternative rock scene.

 

All in all, they are a driving force for creative freedom and self-expression. As a band, they stand to create community and bring people together. Passion and emotional honesty is at the heart of everything they do and this resonates amongst their audience. Their shows are a safe-space to let loose and be who you want to be, no matter your background.
